Bogdan Stashinsky est né dans la région de Lviv en 1931. Mais, quand Inge est tombée enceinte et est allée accoucher à Berlin-Ouest, parce qu'elle ne voulait pas rester à Moscou, Stashinsky lui-même n'a pas été autorisé à partir à l'étranger, citant le fait qu'il s'était "éclairé" dans l'enquête sur la mort de Bandera.
Mais à Berlin, l'inattendu s'est produit - le fils nouveau-né d'une femme allemande ordinaire et d'un espion soviétique est décédé. Bogdan Stashinsky a mis fin à sa carrière en tant qu'assassin soviétique. ... Le lendemain, 13 août, Berlin-Est était séparé de l'Ouest par un mur solide.

Immédiatement après la révolution d'octobre 1917, une lutte pour l'indépendance du pays a commencé en Ukraine. En réponse, les organes du Cheka-GPU, puis du NKVD, ont lancé une véritable guerre contre les Ukrainiens, qui a été menée à la fois sur le territoire de l'URSS et à l'étranger. Elle aboutit à la liquidation en 1938 à Rotterdam du chef de l'Organisation des nationalistes ukrainiens (OUN), Yevhen Konovalets.
Pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, l'OUN a d'abord bénéficié du soutien des nazis. Cependant, la situation a très vite changé. Des détachements de l'armée insurrectionnelle ukrainienne (UPA) ont dû combattre à la fois les Allemands et les Soviétiques. Cette lutte a duré plus de dix ans. Ce n'est qu'au milieu des années 1950 que le métro OUN en Ukraine a été liquidé. Après cela, il a été décidé de traiter avec les dirigeants de l'OUN à l'étranger. À ces fins, le département de Beria a choisi la figure de Bogdan Stashinsky.
Bogdan Nikolaevich Stashinsky est né en 1932 dans l'ouest de l'Ukraine. Il parlait bien l'allemand, avait d'excellentes données physiques. En 1951, alors qu'il étudie à l'Université de Lviv, il devient agent du MGB. L'un des premiers cas de Stashinsky a été la participation à la recherche des assassins du célèbre écrivain communiste Yaroslav Galan. En conséquence, en juin 1953, l'organisateur du meurtre, Roman Shchepansky, a été arrêté. Plus tard, Stashinsky, par l'intermédiaire de sa sœur, a obtenu la confiance de son fiancé - le commandant du détachement de combat de l'UPA - et l'a accompagné dans la forêt. En 1955, Stashinsky est transféré à Moscou à la disposition du treizième département (sabotage) du PGU. En 1957, la direction de l'URSS décide de liquider l'un des dirigeants de l'OUN, Lev Rebet, espérant ainsi provoquer des discours de ses partisans contre le dirigeant de l'autre aile de l'OUN, Stepan Bandera, et intensifier la scission qui émergé à cette époque au sein du mouvement. Khrouchtchev a personnellement donné la sanction pour la liquidation de Rebet et Stashinsky a été approuvé comme exécuteur testamentaire de l'action. L'arme du crime a été fabriquée dans le laboratoire d'armes du KGB - un pistolet à gaz qui a tiré un jet toxique à partir d'une ampoule de cyanure de potassium. Lorsqu'il a été touché au visage de la victime, le gaz a provoqué un arrêt cardiaque. On croyait que le pathologiste écrirait très probablement dans la conclusion que la cause du décès était une insuffisance cardiaque.
À l'automne 1957, Stashinsky s'est rendu quatre fois à Munich, où vivait Rebet, a étudié les itinéraires et l'horaire de la journée de la future victime. Le 9 octobre, il arrive à Munich avec de faux papiers et commence à choisir un moment opportun pour la liquidation. Cela s'est produit trois jours plus tard. Réfugié devant la maison où vivait Rebet, Stashinsky attendit que celui-ci, rentré chez lui, commence à ouvrir la porte de son appartement et lui tire une balle dans la figure. Le même jour, Stashinsky s'est envolé pour Berlin-Ouest, d'où il est retourné en toute sécurité en RDA.
La mort de Rebet n'éveille aucun soupçon. Comme le soupçonnaient les organisateurs du meurtre, le rapport médical établi après l'autopsie indiquait que Rebet était décédé d'une insuffisance cardiaque. Cependant, c'est précisément cette circonstance qui a confondu les plans du KGB, puisque la mort "naturelle" de Rebet n'a pas provoqué de conflit entre ses partisans et Bandera.
Quant à Stashinsky, il fut félicité pour son succès et reçut bientôt l'ordre de commettre un deuxième attentat terroriste. Cette fois, le Comité central du PCUS et Khrouchtchev ont personnellement autorisé la liquidation du chef de l'OUN, Stepan Bandera. Il convient de noter qu'à la fin des années 1950, le prestige politique de Bandera déclinait régulièrement. Par conséquent, certains dirigeants du KGB ont rapporté au Kremlin que l'élimination de Bandera non seulement ne serait d'aucun avantage, mais forcerait également l'émigration ukrainienne à s'unir. Mais le Comité central ne partagea pas cet avis et donna l'ordre de procéder à l'opération.
La résidence du KGB en Allemagne a obtenu une description précise du lieu de résidence de Bandera à Munich, où il vivait sous le nom de Stefan Poppel, sa routine quotidienne, ainsi qu'un double de la clé de l'entrée de la maison. À la toute fin du mois de mai, Stashinsky était déjà à Munich et a même trouvé Bandera tout seul près du garage. Cependant, au dernier moment, un étranger est apparu à proximité et Stashinsky s'est retiré à la hâte. En chemin, il a jeté le pistolet et a signalé aux autorités de Karlshorst qu'il considérait cette tâche comme extrêmement difficile. Mais l'opération d'élimination de Bandera était sous le contrôle du Comité central du PCUS et personne n'allait l'abandonner.
En octobre 1959, Stashinsky repart pour Munich. Le 15 octobre à 11 h 30 du matin, à l'entrée de la maison n° 7 de la Kreitmayrstrasse, il a tiré des gaz toxiques au visage de Bandera, qui ouvrait la porte de son appartement. Dans un premier temps, après avoir découvert le cadavre de "Stefan Poppel", la police ouest-allemande a de nouveau cru que l'homme était mort d'une insuffisance cardiaque. Mais lorsqu'il s'est avéré que Bandera vivait sous ce nom, les autorités allemandes ont eu des doutes sur les causes de sa mort. Le corps a été réexaminé. Dans l'estomac de Bandera, ils ont trouvé des restes d'acide cyanhydrique et sur le visage - des traces d'une ampoule éclatée de poison.
Pour brouiller l'enquête, le service de désinformation du PGU KGB a lancé une version dans la presse occidentale selon laquelle Bandera a été tué à l'initiative du ministre allemand des réfugiés Theodor Oberländer, avec qui il a travaillé en étroite collaboration pendant les années de guerre. D'autres rumeurs ont également circulé : Bandera-de s'est suicidé en prenant du poison après avoir appris que son associé le plus proche, Matviyenko, avait commencé à coopérer avec le KGB. Pendant ce temps, la jubilation régnait à Moscou après l'assassinat de Bandera. Le vice-président du KGB Ivashutin a demandé au Comité central du PCUS de récompenser l'interprète de l'action Stashinsky. En décembre 1959, il fut convoqué à Moscou, où le président du KGB, Shelepin, remit solennellement à Stashinsky l'Ordre de la bannière rouge pour "l'achèvement réussi d'une tâche particulièrement importante du gouvernement". Au printemps 1961, la femme enceinte Inge est partie donner naissance à un enfant à Berlin-Est et Stashinsky est resté à Moscou: le chef de l'appareil du KGB en RDA, le général de division Alexander Korotkov, sur un rapport sur la question du départ de Stashinsky à Berlin, a imposé la résolution suivante : « Stashinsky ne peut pas être libéré à l'Ouest. Stashinsky était accompagné à Berlin par son conservateur de Moscou, le lieutenant-colonel Yuri Alexandrov, qui était absolument sûr de la loyauté de son pupille. Pendant ce temps, Stashinsky, qui a été profondément affecté par la mort de son fils, a avoué à sa femme qu'il était un militant meurtrier, un agent du KGB. Le couple a fermement décidé de fuir vers l'Ouest. Le samedi 12 août, jour des funérailles de leur fils, ils se sont cachés de la surveillance et sont partis pour Berlin-Ouest, où ils ont rédigé une déclaration au poste de police sur leur fuite de la RDA pour des raisons politiques. Le soir du 13 août, lorsqu'il est devenu évident que Stashinsky s'était enfui vers l'Ouest, tous ceux qui étaient au courant de son implication dans le meurtre de Rebet et Bandera étaient horrifiés. Alexandrov a été immédiatement rappelé à Moscou et arrêté. Seul un accident l'a sauvé de la prison. Il s'est échappé avec seulement un licenciement sans droit à une pension. D'autres officiers du KGB impliqués dans la fuite de Stashinsky ont également souffert - selon certaines informations, 17 personnes ont été licenciées ou rétrogradées.
Pendant ce temps, Stashinsky a dit aux Américains qu'il était un agent du KGB et a personnellement liquidé Rebet et Bandera. Au début, ses paroles ont été traitées avec méfiance, mais lorsqu'il a présenté les documents qu'il avait emportés avec lui, y compris l'ordre du prix, l'attitude à son égard a changé. Bientôt, Stashinsky a été remis aux autorités allemandes pour être jugé. Une vague de publications révélatrices sur les crimes du KGB commis sur le territoire de l'Allemagne de l'Ouest a déferlé sur la presse occidentale.
Le procès de Stashinsky a eu lieu en octobre 1962 à Karlsruhe. Devant les remords de l'accusé, le tribunal l'a condamné à 8 ans de prison. L'OUN, l'Organisation des nationalistes ukrainiens, avait des relations amicales avec le NSDAP allemand avant la guerre et dans sa première année : la connexion était si étroite que le siège berlinois de l'OUN était situé dans le même bâtiment que la Gestapo. Le chef de l'OUN a été arrêté en 1942 simplement parce que les Ukrainiens et les nazis n'étaient pas d'accord. Stashinsky-Lehmann s'est envolé pour Francfort. Là, il a changé ses documents et à Munich était déjà Siegfried Draeger, un entrepreneur de l'Allemagne de l'Ouest.
Le 12 octobre 1957, Rebet, comme d'habitude, arriva à la rédaction de Samostiynik en tram. A l'entrée, il fut dépassé par un jeune homme bien habillé, aux cheveux noirs lissés en arrière, qui montait rapidement l'escalier en colimaçon. Lorsque Rebet arriva au milieu, le jeune homme revenait déjà. Après avoir rattrapé le rédacteur en chef, il lève la main, tire et quitte le bâtiment sans se retourner.
Lev Rebet est mort sur le coup. Les employés l'ont trouvé dans les escaliers, la cause du décès a ensuite été appelée arrêt cardiaque. L'opération s'est bien déroulée, personne n'a même mentionné l'inconnu aux cheveux noirs. Plus tard, lors des interrogatoires, Stashinsky a déclaré que ce meurtre était dur pour lui.
De retour à Munich, Bogdan a demandé à ses supérieurs la permission de se révéler à son amant, Inge Pohl, et de se marier.

Les conservateurs du roman, bien sûr, le savaient. De telles choses n'étaient pas encouragées, mais pas interdites, tant qu'elles n'allaient pas au-delà d'une aventure facultative. Les espions n'étaient pas non plus interdits de se marier, d'ailleurs, dans certaines opérations, les opérations familiales étaient même préférées: les couples suscitaient moins de suspicion et la femme pouvait devenir assistante. Mais Inge ne convenait pas au rôle de l'épouse du lien soviétique. Elle était allemande, c'est-à-dire étrangère à l'origine, et de plus, elle travaillait à l'Ouest et aurait pu avoir des relations discréditées. Son père tenait même un atelier de réparation automobile avec des ouvriers salariés, c'est-à-dire que, selon les normes des camarades de Moscou, il était un petit bourgeois, capitaliste et exploiteur. Stashinsky a été refusé - le conservateur lui a conseillé de quitter Inge et, en partant, de faire un "cadeau mémorable et peu coûteux".
Bogdan ne pouvait pas se séparer d'Inge - il est tombé amoureux, elle n'était pas seulement pour lui une coiffeuse d'une famille ouvrière, mais le symbole d'une autre belle vie. Cependant, Stashinsky n'a pas souffert longtemps - on lui a bientôt confié une nouvelle tâche.
Munich — Bandera
Cette fois, Stashinsky s'est lui-même rendu à Moscou pour obtenir des instructions et des armes - c'était une affaire sérieuse. Il est rentré à Berlin avec un passeport soviétique, les employés des deux aéroports ont été avertis que ce passager ne devait en aucun cas être contrôlé.
Dans une valise spéciale, Stashinsky portait une arme améliorée : un pistolet à gaz à double canon. Cette fois, la victime devait être Stefan Poppel, alias Stepan Bandera, le chef de l'OUN étranger, l'idole de sa famille.
Le légendaire nationaliste ukrainien a survécu à de nombreuses tentatives d'assassinat, Staline a donné l'ordre de le tuer. Les Rouges et les Blancs chassaient pour Bandera à l'étranger. Stefan Poppel voyageait en voiture et seulement avec des gardes, il ne quittait jamais la maison seul. Bandera a eu deux enfants qui portaient le nom de famille Poppel et ne savaient rien du passé, ni même du vrai nom de leur père.
Bogdan, comme la première fois, est arrivé à Munich sous un faux nom. Seulement maintenant, il devait vivre longtemps en ville avant de pouvoir se rapprocher de sa victime. Stashinsky a suivi Bandera pendant de nombreuses semaines, allant même à Rotterdam, où les Ukrainiens ont commémoré le fondateur de l'OUN, l'ancien colonel de l'armée de Petliura Yevgeny Konovalets (tué par un autre officier du renseignement de Moscou, le légendaire Pavel Sudoplatov). Mais il était impossible d'approcher Bandera sans se faire remarquer à distance d'un tir.
La première chance s'est présentée par accident : Stashinsky est entré dans le garage où se tenait l'Opel de Bandera. Bandera lui-même est bientôt apparu. Il n'y avait personne autour, l'affaire s'est avérée excellente, mais Stashinsky n'a pas pu tirer. Il s'est simplement retourné et est parti, et a jeté l'arme dans le canal.
Bogdan surveillait la cible depuis trop longtemps et maintenant il ne pouvait plus tuer cet homme du même sang-froid qu'il avait tué Rebet. Avant lui, il n'y avait pas de monstre, mais un homme ordinaire d'âge moyen qui vivait avec sa famille dans un appartement plutôt modeste et ne faisait de mal à personne. Stashinsky a échoué à la tâche - et pour cela, il a dû répondre à Moscou à des "camarades supérieurs".
On ne sait pas ce que Bogdan leur a dit, mais on lui a donné une seconde chance. Avec une nouvelle arme, Stashinsky a reçu une clé principale, qui était censée déverrouiller la porte de l'entrée souhaitée.
Le passe-partout s'est cassé : une dent s'est cassée et est tombée à l'intérieur de la serrure, et un voisin vigilant a remarqué l'inconnu. Dans l'hôtel, Stashinsky, comme il sied à un espion, a lui-même finalisé le passe-partout avec un dossier, et le lendemain, 15 octobre, près d'un an après sa première tentative d'assassinat, il est entré dans l'entrée. Bandera a tenu un sac d'épicerie dans une main et a sorti une clé coincée dans le trou de la serrure avec l'autre. Stashinsky a demandé si tout était en ordre avec la clé, et quand Bandera a levé la tête pour répondre, il a tiré.

La chance est changeante. Pire encore, on ne sait jamais à quel moment elle va nous tromper.
Il y avait quelque chose qui n'allait pas avec le poison qui a tué Stepan Bandera. Le visage du chef des nationalistes ukrainiens est devenu noir et la police a insisté pour une autopsie. La cause du décès a été déterminée comme étant un empoisonnement. Stashinsky avait déjà disparu à ce moment-là, il a jeté l'arme dans le canal, il n'a donc pas été possible de trouver la «trace de Moscou» dans l'affaire. Pourtant, l'opération ne s'est pas déroulée sans heurts.
Cependant, Stashinsky ne semblait pas s'en soucier. Il a été convoqué à Moscou, personnellement le président du KGB, le colonel Alexander Shelepin, lui a remis l'ordre et les bretelles d'un major. C'est peut-être au moment même où Shelepin, surnommé Iron Shurik par ses subordonnés, apposait un astérisque sur le revers de sa veste que Stashinsky demanda l'autorisation de postuler. Le colonel l'autorisa et Bogdan, à l'inexprimable surprise des personnes présentes, parla au président d'Inga Pohl, une coiffeuse de Berlin, et qu'il voulait l'épouser.
Iron Shurik s'est comporté avec une humanité surprenante: après un certain temps, Stashinsky a été autorisé à révéler sa légende et à amener Inge à Moscou. Le talentueux éclaireur a été rencontré à mi-chemin, il a de nouveau eu une chance.
Stashinsky allait être envoyé en Angleterre - il étudiait maintenant l'anglais à l'école du KGB à Moscou - avec Inge. Mais les difficultés ont commencé presque immédiatement.
Inge n'aimait pas Moscou. Dès le premier jour, ironie du sort, ils ont été logés à l'hôtel "Ukraine", mais ils n'ont pas réussi à mettre une écoute électronique dans la chambre. Pendant que l'administrateur d'un immense hôtel complètement vide cherchait à gagner du temps, les gars en costume se sont empressés de cacher les fils sous le papier peint. Stashinsky a tout compris et a averti Inge. Après un certain temps, on leur a donné un appartement, dans lequel Bogdan a été enregistré selon son passeport allemand. C'était Josef Lehmann qui vivait à Moscou, Josef Lehmann était marié à Inge Pohl. Bogdan Stashinsky était célibataire - et il n'existait pas à Moscou.
Dans les cours où Inge a appris l'anglais et le cryptage, elle s'ennuyait franchement, mais a enduré jusqu'à ce qu'il s'avère qu'elle était enceinte. On ne peut que deviner ce qui a brisé Inge. Peut-être la misérable vie soviétique, la vue de l'hôpital où elle devait accoucher, les bus et les trams bondés - qui sait ? Ou peut-être, et encore plus probablement, la nature bourgeoise d'une fille de la banlieue de Berlin a-t-elle été brûlée par la touche froide de l'empire soviétique: écoutes téléphoniques, surveillance, étendues gigantesques de Moscou, étoiles rubis du Kremlin - tout cela est bon pour un romantique, mais complètement insupportable pour une personne moyenne. Elle n'a pas pu le supporter et s'est tournée vers son curateur pour lui demander de la laisser accoucher en Allemagne.
L'intelligence, contrairement aux clichés courants, est une affaire volontaire, personne n'y est retenu de force. Après s'être entretenus, les conservateurs ont autorisé Inge à retourner seule à Berlin. Frau Lehmann a découvert qu'elle partait seule peu de temps avant son départ. Stashinsky a été laissé en otage à Moscou. Immédiatement arrêté sa formation et sa formation. Il est tombé dans la catégorie des personnes peu fiables et sa carrière d'espion s'est terminée pour toujours.
Le fils de Stashinsky, Peter, est né à Berlin-Est presque le même jour que le vol de Youri Gagarine dans l'espace et est décédé quatre mois plus tard. Bogdan a été informé des deux par télégramme. Début août, Stashinsky s'est tourné vers le KGB avec une demande de le laisser aller aux funérailles, qui devaient avoir lieu le 13 août à Berlin. Dans la nuit du 13 août 1961, des troupes de l'Armée populaire de la RDA ont été amenées à la frontière entre Berlin-Ouest et Berlin-Est avec des unités de l'Armée rouge. Ils ont bloqué la frontière séparant les secteurs soviétique et américain. L'armée américaine, qui commandait alors dans le secteur Ouest, était abasourdie par une telle impudence.
Une heure avant, deux personnes sont montées dans le wagon de la deuxième ligne de métro à la station Bornholmer Strasse. Ils ont laissé leurs vélos à l'entrée. Les deux professionnellement ont regardé autour d'eux: à l'école du KGB, on leur a appris à couper la surveillance. Le lendemain, le fils d'Inge et de Bogdan devait être enterré, mais ses parents ne viendraient pas aux funérailles. Ils se sont échappés par la porte arrière d'une maison à Karshorst, qui était surveillée par des agents du KGB et où un petit cercueil se trouvait dans le salon. Une seule station sépare Bornholmer Straße à Berlin-Est de Gesundbrunnen à Berlin-Ouest. Inge Pohl et Bogdan Stashinsky ont traversé la frontière, et celle-ci s'est refermée derrière eux - étroitement, jusqu'en 1989. Il est impossible de croire à une telle coïncidence maintenant, mais la vie d'un garçon du village qui est devenu un espion légendaire parce qu'il n'a pas acheté de billet a été pleine de chance fabuleuse et d'accidents mortels. Et des coïncidences aussi : sa carrière a commencé dans le train, et s'est terminée dans le train.
Ils se séparèrent près de la gare. Stashinsky s'est rendu au poste de police le plus proche et a dit à l'officier de service qu'il était un espion soviétique et qu'il voulait se rendre aux autorités. L'officier n'a pas cru pendant longtemps, puis a néanmoins composé le numéro requis - et Stashinsky a été emmené au siège de la CIA. Il a dit aux Américains qu'il dirait tout sur la tentative d'assassinat de Bandera en échange de garanties d'immunité et d'un nouveau passeport pour lui et Inga. Les Américains n'y ont pas cru au début et ont considéré Stashinsky comme un provocateur, mais ils ont ensuite été convaincus qu'il disait la vérité : sur le lieu de la mort de Bandera, il a montré exactement comment s'était déroulée la tentative d'assassinat. Dans le château, ils ont trouvé une dent d'un passe-partout, au fond du canal - une arme.
Une série d'interrogatoires s'ensuivit. Stashinsky a décidé de jouer ouvertement - et a perdu. Les Américains, ayant reçu des aveux, les ont remis à la police allemande. En 1962, un procès très médiatisé a commencé, dans lequel le principal accusé n'était pas Bogdan, mais le président du KGB, Alexander Shelepin. La loi allemande de ces années interprétait le meurtre comme "prendre la vie d'une autre personne de son plein gré". Stashinsky a exécuté quelqu'un d'autre et n'a donc pas été condamné à perpétuité, mais à huit ans de prison. Le processus était bruyant : Khrouchtchev était furieux, la partie soviétique a tout nié et a même avancé sa propre version de ce qui s'est passé : Stepan Bandera aurait été empoisonné dans la salle à manger par un transfuge allemand. Cela n'a pas aidé: Bogdan a tout avoué et est allé purger sa peine dans une prison de Berlin.
Il sera libéré sur parole dans trois ans - et la piste de l'espion, du meurtrier et de l'hypocrite Stashinsky-Lehmann-Dreger sera perdue. Jusqu'à récemment, on croyait qu'il était resté en Allemagne sous un faux nom. Cependant, en 2005, un livre de l'historien des services spéciaux, Dmitry Prokhorov, a été publié, qui déclare que les Américains ont toujours tenu parole: après sa sortie de prison, Stashinsky a reçu un passeport américain et a vécu aux États-Unis. Avec Inge Paul ou non, il est impossible de dire : depuis 1961, il n'y a pas eu une seule mention d'elle.
Mais en 1989, quand le mur de Berlin est tombé, ils avaient tous les deux moins de soixante ans, et rien ne les empêchait de traverser l'océan, de descendre de l'avion à l'aéroport de Tegel, de prendre le bus pour la gare de Gesundbrunnen. Puis une station jusqu'à Bornholmer Strasse, de Berlin-Ouest à Berlin-Est, et de là - toujours en train, ou peut-être à vélo ou à pied - jusqu'à Karlshorst, où se trouvait autrefois le siège du KGB.
